Their qualified personnel are skilled and trained in many fields, such as Early Childhood Education, Performing Arts, Choreography and Drama, conducting Seminars on a variety of subjects, Writing and Composing, Administration and Organization, Humanitarian Relief Work, Interpersonal Relations Skills, and more.
In Jordan, projects are coordinated with Haya Cultural Center, Noor Al-Hussein Foundation, GUVS, UNRWA, and many other organizations and NGO’s, as well as with the Ministries of Youth and Sports and Social Development.
--Mobile Motivational Programs—Clown Shows – The Clowns have presented their fun educational show at schools, institutions, children’s centers and many other venues throughout Jordan.
--Distribution of Food and Clothing to the Underprivileged: Volunteers personally visit the residences of needy families to distribute food, clothing, and other items, during Ramadan and throughout the year.
--Visits to Hospitals: FICS volunteers make regular visits to encourage and assist the sick at the Al Hussein cancer hospital, King Hussein Medical City and other medical institutions.
--Medical Aid and Health Campaigns: FICS has organized free eye-tests and regularly offers free dental check-ups to needy children from various Refugee Camps in an effort to increase awareness for health and hygiene. In 1998, FICS coordinated a free cleft-palate operation for a little girl from Jerash Refugee Camp, enabling her to talk for the first time.
--Programs for the Handicapped: FICS volunteers taught children with special needs in Baqa’a Camp weekly for 2 years, then held free seminars for teachers of the handicapped in 8 Refugee Camps. We also taught the deaf in Yajooz and have organized special “Fun Days” for hundreds of disabled children.
--Early Reading: The Family International introduced for the first time to many schools in Jordan the tried-and-proven method of Early Reading for very small children, which is making a difference in the education of many.
--Seminars and Workshops: Topics taught so far are “Early Reading for Very Small Children”, “Introduction to Writing” and “Language Development” for teachers; “Interpersonal Skills” and “Motivation” for hospital volunteers and teachers of the handicapped; and a “Catering Management Training” seminar.
--English Camps: In conjunction with the Ministry of Education and UNWRA, FICS regularly organizes English camps for high-school students to enhance their spoken English skills through conversation, role-play, public speaking, and discussion. |
