The children's library at the Sal Cultural Forum near Irbid is now complete! Equipped with almost 2,000 attractive books targeting youths from 4 to 16 years, and will be serving the entire community of Sal and surrounding villages. The project included renovation of the building, with 3 classrooms for pre-tawjihi students and a computer lab open to all.

We spent a full day setting the books up on the shelves and could not have made it without our energetic volunteers! Thank you also to the many others who have given hours of their time over the previous weeks to help with book classification!

FICS presented two shows at the King Hussein Cancer Foundation. Approximately 35 children attended each performance, all of them outpatients who are recovering from cancer. The clowns organized interactive games and a drama skit about care of the environment. The purpose was to bring joy and laughter to children suffering from cancer, as well as provide an opportunity for their parents to see their children smiling despite their suffering. Jordanian volunteers who had taken part in the MOVE training program on community service (conducted by FICS) were present and assisted in this activity.

Ramadan Kitchen 2010 was launched this month with a planning meeting attended by a dozen willing volunteers. Last year Ramadan Kitchen successfully served 2,700 meals to people in need, from food donated by high-class restaurants after their iftar buffets. This year young volunteers will team up again, following a well organized strategy of rotational duties, to distribute food that would otherwise be wasted. This worthy project could use more volunteers, so please contact Khalid, mob: 0777226855!
